Journeyperson Scaffolder

(McClean Lake)

As a key member of the Maintenance team, you will collaborate with skilled professionals to ensure the safe and efficient use of scaffolding on site. Responsibilities include:  

  • Construct scaffolds using “Tube & Clamp” and “Safeway Scaffold” and ensure the safe use of all scaffolding built on site
  • Responsible for the inspection, maintenance and organization of the scaffolding material
  • Responsible for training and developing Trade Helpers, Apprentices and personnel in the proper construction and safe use of scaffolding
  • Required to assist the other trades (Millwrights, Pipefitters, Welders, and Electricians)
  • Carpentry ticket with experience in concrete forming / repair, painting or rubberizing is an asset
  • Embrace and support Operational Excellence efforts and OE Culture
  • Complies with all Orano health, safety and environmental policies, practices and procedures
  • Promote and adhere to Orano Canada’s values: Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Improvement, Respect and People Development, Cohesion and Team Spirit, and Exemplarity, Integrity, Responsibility

 

Skills and Qualifications for the position include:

  • Valid Saskatchewan Journeyman Scaffolder certification with 5 years of experience
  • Good understanding of occupational health and safety code for scaffold construction
  • Rate of pay will be as per the CBA
  • Willing to work with minimum supervision at times
  • Willing to assist other trades in the completion of their duties
  • Enjoys working in a team environment
  • Must be safety conscious 
  • Priority will be given to residents of the Saskatchewan’s North

 

Work Location & Schedule:  

  • McClean Lake Mine site
  • 14 days in and 14 days out rotating schedule
  • Normally an 11 hour work day, although some activity outside of normal working hours may be required
  • This position requires moderate physical ability

Pick-Up Points: Saskatoon, Prince Albert, La Ronge, Buffalo Narrows and the designated communities in the Athabasca region of Uranium City, Stony Rapids, Fond du Lac, and Wollaston.

 

As a condition of employment the successful candidate must complete Orano’s pre-employment checks including education verification and employment reference checks. 

 

Drug (including marijuana) and alcohol substance testing is a requirement for all Safety Sensitive positions. Applicants who have recently used marijuana recreationally may not pass a substance test as marijuana can remain in the user’s system for as many as 30 days after use.
