Journeyperson Electrician (Mining)

(McClean Lake)

 

Join our dynamic mining team at McClean Lake, where you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining and troubleshooting electrical systems that power our operations. You will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting critical electrical systems, ensuring everything from motors and generators are operating at their best. You’ll inspect and repair faulty parts on a variety of equipment and you’ll get hands-on with cable tray construction, pipe bending and much more. You’ll work on solving complex electrical issues while collaborating with diverse teams across departments to ensure safety and efficiency. Responsibilities include:  

  • Inspect, repair, or replace faulty parts and wiring on motors, generators, power distribution and control panels, breakers, electronic devices, etc.
  • Cable tray construction, cable pulling, pipe bending. 
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of mine site electrical systems
  • Updating blueprints and documentation as required
  • Maintain and troubleshoot electrical equipment and power distribution throughout the site
  • Establish the appropriate procedure to locate and correct electrical problems, and determine electrical component replacements
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
  • Ensure that regulatory, licensing, and company requirements are met in a safe, effective, and timely manner
  • Install and maintain high, medium, and low voltage power controls on equipment
  • Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power mobile equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including ammeters, and test lamps
  • Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures
  • Overtime, call outs, and shift work as required
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Move and operate mining equipment
  • Work closely with other departments
  • Embrace and support Operational Excellence efforts and OE Culture
  • Comply with all Orano health, safety and environmental policies, practices and procedures
  • Promote and adhere to Orano Canada’s values: Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Improvement, Respect and People Development, Cohesion and Team Spirit, and Exemplarity, Integrity, Responsibility

 

Skills and Qualifications for the position include:

  • Valid Interprovincial Electrical Journeyman Certificate
  • Electrical Technologist Diploma would be an asset
  • High voltage experience is required
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial maintenance is required
  • Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) experience would be an asset
  • Generator experience would be an asset
  • Safety conscious, self-motivated, proficient communication skills, long-term career goals, exceptional work ethic
  • Able to work outdoors, in all weather conditions
  • Priority will be given to residents of the Saskatchewan’s North

 

Work Location & Schedule:  

  • McClean Lake Mine site
  • 14 days in and 14 days out rotating schedule
  • Normally an 11 hour work day, although some activity outside of normal working hours may be required

$65.33 per hour

 

Fly Day- This position will fly in and fly out on Friday

 

Pick-Up Points: Saskatoon, Prince Albert, La Ronge, Buffalo Narrows and the designated communities in the Athabasca region of Uranium City, Stony Rapids, Fond du Lac, and Wollaston.
