Orano TN, a subsidiary of Orano USA, is TN Americas, a subsidiary of Orano, is seeking a Radiological (RAD) Control Technician to support the operations performed as part of UF6 Service Center in Kevil, KY.

 

The ideal candidate will have experience serving in a Heath Physics/Radiation Protection role, responsible for the day-to-day duties in an operational environment.  The Health Physics Technician position requires a focus on the quality and accuracy of detailed information keyed into multiple databases, a drive to learn and master assigned responsibilities, and a desire to streamline and facilitate smooth processes in the Transportation department.  

Under general supervision, the Rad Control Technician performs advanced duties in support of the Radiation Protection Program to ensure compliance with State Regulations, OSHA requirements, and site procedures. Responsible for implementing day-to-day radiological monitoring and control activities, generating data and reports, and supporting specialized technical programs such as Dosimetry, Instrumentation, and Bioassay. Provides mentorship and technical guidance to junior technician(s) and operators, ensuring safe and compliant radiological operations.


MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The specific work assignment may include duties or activities to support the organization in one or more of the following functional areas:

  • Provide Radiation Protection coverage and oversight for cylinder wash facility
  • Radiation Monitoring: Perform regular surveys, assess contamination levels, and test samples of air, water, and gas.
  • Monitor and maintain the internal and external dose program.
  • Safety Enforcement: Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and conduct training on proper radiation protection protocols.
  • Operational Support: Assist with decontamination procedures, manage radioactive waste, and ensure safe handling of materials. Provide liquid sample analysis to operations.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Calibrate, repair, and upgrade monitoring instruments
  • Waste Shipments: Prepare paperwork, coordinate waste shipments
  • In addition to providing job coverage, certain routine tasks may be assigned determined by individual certifications, qualifications, and skills
  • Generate thorough, accurate, and timely radiological survey and analysis documents.
  • Correctly post and control various areas requiring radiological controls.
  • May calibrate/maintain survey instruments and laboratory equipment.
  • Monitor the transfer of material, equipment, and personnel across radiological control boundaries.
  • Thoroughly survey and assess areas in respect to dose rates and contamination levels.
  • Conduct audits in accordance with procedure including radiation and Industrial safety.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and order of work areas.
  • Perform personnel decontamination.
  • Play an active role in creating a safe and healthy workplace and comply with all applicable safety and health rules.
Requirements

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity.  Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position:

  • Certified Health Physics Technician / Radiological Technician
  • Knowledge of radiation safety principles, regulations, and industry standards
  • Must qualify in CPR basic first aid
