Operations Accountant (2 Year Term)

Our finance team is expanding and we are seeking a highly-motivated team player to contribute to our company’s success in a rewarding and enjoyable environment. Reporting to the Director, Finance, this position will be responsible for all aspects of financial accounting of the mill.

 

What you’ll be accomplishing:

  • Responsible for McClean Joint-Venture (MLJV) full accounting and financial reporting cycle including:
    1. Month end accounting and annual audited financial statements
    2. Responding to queries/requests from JV partners 
    3. Preparation of the annual operating budget for the McClean JEB Mill in collaboration with the McClean Management Team and monthly review of performance
    4. Reviewing inventory provision and accounting for any sale of inventory
    5. Tracking purchasing performance
    6. Developing and monitoring key performance indicators including operational and financial metrics
    7. Ministry of Highways Transportation Partnership Agreement quarterly reporting and annual audit 
    8. Monthly invoicing for Ammonium Sulphate Sales & Toll Mill Fees
    9. Assisting external auditors in the performance of the annual year-end audit work
    10. Participating in operational excellence reporting initiatives 
  • Perform other related tasks, as required
  • Embrace, promote, and support Operational Excellence and OE culture

Qualities and skills we’re seeking:

  • Commerce degree and/or 2 years’ accounting training and experience is required
  • CPA designation or working towards the CPA designation is an asset
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience using SAP is an asset
  • Excellent planning and organization skills to coordinate efforts and meet deadlines
  • Excellent time management skills, analytical skills and able to prioritize work effectively
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Cooperative and collaborative, able to work as part of a team
  • Honest, ethical, and respects confidentiality

 

Work Location & Schedule:  

  • Saskatoon Corporate Office
  • Monday to Friday, 8:00-4:30; 40 hours/week
  • Travel to various projects sites is required

 

Salary Range:

$77,750 - $94,450

 

Compensation to be determined based on the selected candidate’s level of skill, education, and experience, and may vary within, the posted salary range.
