By joining the Orano Group, you will be a part of a leading international player in the nuclear industry. Our strengths? Across the entire fuel cycle, we have extensive expertise in cutting-edge technologies, safe, high value-added products and services, and a strong capacity for innovation.

Overview

Step into a career-defining opportunity with Orano USA, a global leader in nuclear innovation, as we launch Project IKE—a cutting-edge uranium enrichment facility in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. As Nuclear Facility Material Control and Accountability (MC&A) Specialist, you’ll be at the forefront of building one of the most advanced clean energy infrastructures in the country.

This isn't just another MC&A Specialist role. You'll be at the forefront of nuclear material security and compliance for Project IKE, responsible for ensuring that all nuclear materials are securely managed, accurately tracked, and fully compliant with national and international safeguards regulations — all in service of a multi-billion-dollar facility that will power America's energy independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain systems to track all nuclear materials on-site, conduct regular inventories and reconcile discrepancies to ensure accurate records
  • Implement procedures in line with 10 CFR Part 74 and ensure full compliance with NRC, DOE, and international safeguards requirements
  • Analyze material flow and measurement data to detect potential losses or anomalies, and prepare mandatory reports on nuclear material status for submission to regulatory bodies
  • Prevent unauthorized access, diversion, or misuse of nuclear materials, and support inspections and audits by the NRC, DOE, and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
  • Assist in the design and implementation of the facility's MC&A program, establishing protocols for the measurement, control, and detection of special nuclear material
  • Work closely with operations teams to ensure nuclear material handling aligns with safeguards obligations, and provide technical expertise during facility modifications or new processes involving nuclear material
Requirements

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher-level position.

  • Degree in Nuclear Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related field
  • Technical expertise in nuclear material measurement, control systems, and safeguards
  • In-depth regulatory knowledge of NRC, DOE, and IAEA requirements, including 10 CFR Part 74
  • Strong analytical skills for detecting discrepancies, analyzing material flow data, and ensuring accurate accounting
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with regulators, auditors, facility staff, and engineering leadership
  • High level of documentation discipline and experience operating within regulated and audited environments
