Mine Utility Person (4 Positions) - Permanent

(McClean Lake)

Reporting to the Mine Operations Supervisor, this position is responsible for the following duties: 

 

Responsibilities include:  

  • Under the direction of a senior employee, Mine Utility Person duties such as:
    1. Work on the Rig floor of a drilling rig for the operation of tripping pipe. 
    2. Assist the Rig Driller to assemble and disassemble the drill rig.
    3. Assist the Driller to reposition the drill rig. 
    4. Moving pumps and hoses. 
    5. Other site duties and tasks as required.
  • Conduct all duties required in a safe and efficient manner
  • Successfully complete training in the following areas: confined space entry, fall protection, lockout, WHMIS, radiation
  • Actively participate in weekly safety huddles
  • Embrace and support Operational Excellence efforts and OE Culture
  • Comply with all Orano health, safety and environmental policies, practices and procedures
  • Promote and adhere to Orano Canada’s values: Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Improvement, Respect and People Development, Cohesion and Team Spirit, and Exemplarity, Integrity, Responsibility

 

Skills and Qualifications for the position include:

  • Residents of Saskatchewan’s North (RSN) applicants will be given preference
  • Possess Grade 12 or equivalent
  • Experience working in an industrial setting is considered an asset
  • Some mechanical aptitude is required to understand some equipment operation, for example, pumps, valves, filters, agitators, etc.
  • Experience working on drilling rigs is considered an asset
  • Experience Operating Heavy Equipment is considered an asset
  • Valid Class 5 or Class 5 Northern Restricted driver’s license is required
  • Must be dependable and have the ability to work independently
  • Must have good communication skills

 

Work Conditions, Location & Schedule:  

  • McClean Lake site 
  • 14 days in and 14 days out rotating schedule
  • Normally an 11 hour work day, although some activity outside or normal working hours may be required
  • This position is physically demanding
  • May be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds)
  • Ability to work rotating shifts (days and nights)

 

Fly Day- This position will fly in and fly out on Fridays

 

Pick-Up Points: Saskatoon, Prince Albert, La Ronge, Buffalo Narrows and the designated communities in the Athabasca region of  Uranium City, Stony Rapids, Fond du Lac, and Wollaston.

 

As a condition of employment the successful candidate must complete Orano’s pre-employment checks including education verification and employment reference checks. 

 

Drug (including marijuana) and alcohol substance testing is a requirement for all Safety Sensitive positions. Applicants who have recently used marijuana recreationally may not pass a substance test as marijuana can remain in the user’s system for as many as 30 days after use.
