Mechanical Engineer - SABRE

(McClean Lake)

Reporting to the Chief Mine Engineer

In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of innovation and efficiency. You’ll be involved with strategic planning and hands-on execution, as you assess and develop new ore zones to bring into production while embracing the safe and effective implementation of the SABRE mining technique.  You’ll navigate immediate and long-term challenges to achieve production targets, while collaborating with consulting engineers to deliver innovative designs. Responsibilities include:  

Mining:

  • Assist with annual operating and capital budgets, forecasting, execution, and reporting
  • Recommend and implement department engineering processes and procedures

 

Project Management:

  • Support McClean Lake Mining (MLM) in safely achieving production targets, while addressing short and long-term challenges
  • Guide consulting engineering and project delivery services in the development and execution of engineered designs and projects
  • Assist in managing project delivery, including costs, schedules, quality, tracking, and reporting key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Understand and administer management of change (MOC) to facility changes
  • Comply with all Orano health, safety and environmental policies, practices and procedures
  • Promote and adhere to Orano Canada’s values: Safety and Security, Team Spirit and Cohesion, Continuous Improvement, Customer Satisfaction, Ethics, Transparency and Dialogue, Respect and People Development

 

Skills and Qualifications for the position include:

  • A university degree in Engineering; mining specialization is preferred. Registered or eligible to be registered as a Professional Engineer in Saskatchewan with APEGS
  • 3 – 5+ years of progressive mine engineering and project delivery experience
  • Must have excellent communication skills both written and oral
  • Microsoft Project experience is preferred
  • Effective planning and organizational skills 
  • Co-ordinate activities, information, materials or resources within own area of responsibility to meet deadlines
  • Ability to interact in a team environment, as well as work independently

 

Work Location & Schedule:  

  • McClean Lake Operations, Northern Saskatchewan 
  • Fly-in/Fly-out operation with on-premises camp facilities
  • 14 day in/ 14 day out schedule
  • Normally an 11-hour work day, although some activity outside or normal working hours may be required
  • Able to work outdoors, in all weather conditions

 

Salary Range:

$118,350 - $139,200

Pick-Up Points: Saskatoon, Prince Albert, La Ronge, Buffalo Narrows and the designated communities in the Athabasca region of   Uranium City, Stony Rapids, Fond du Lac, and Wollaston.

 

As a condition of employment, the successful candidate must complete Orano’s pre-employment checks including education verification and employment reference checks. 

 

Drug (including marijuana) and alcohol substance testing is a requirement for all Safety Sensitive positions. Applicants who have recently used marijuana recreationally may not pass a substance test as marijuana can remain in the user’s system for as many as 30 days after use.
