Industrial Hygienist (18 Month Term)

(McClean Lake)

In this position, you’ll help protect the health and safety of every worker by supporting both Industrial Hygiene and Radiation Protection programs. You’ll take part in monitoring and prevention activities, develop safety initiatives, and mentor others. Responsibilities include:  

Industrial Hygiene:

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Industrial Hygiene Program
  • Participate in exposure monitoring programs including air sampling campaigns, hearing conservation, and respiratory protection
  • Assist with qualitative and quantitative industrial hygiene risk assessments
  • Support the development of sampling strategies and annual exposure monitoring plans
  • Conduct field sampling activities, including preparation of equipment and materials
  • Assist with data analysis, report preparation, and communication of results
  • Participate in workplace inspections and occupational exposure investigations
  • Contribute to worker education and training initiatives related to occupational health and hygiene
  • Collaborate with operations, safety, and technical teams to promote healthy work environments

 

Radiation Protection:

  • Support radiation monitoring activities in accordance with procedures and work instructions
  • Record and maintain monitoring data and documentation within required databases and systems
  • Assist with contamination and personnel monitoring activities
  • Participate in calibration and maintenance activities for monitoring equipment
  • Provide support and guidance to workers regarding radiation protection practices
  • Assist in the preparation of procedures, reports, presentations, and training materials
  • Participate in operational and safety meetings, field inspections, and incident follow-up activities
  • Promote strong safety culture and continuous improvement initiatives across site

 

Skills and Qualifications for the position include:

  • Degree in Occupational & Environmental Health, Public Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Sciences, or a related discipline
  • New graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Interest in occupational exposure assessment, worker health protection, and industrial hygiene programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare technical documentation and reports
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with occupational health and safety regulations and best practices is an asset
  • Interest or experience in Radiation Protection is an asset
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Comfortable working in both office and field environments
  • Wear and work in personal protective equipment
  • Able to work independently and, where necessary, take charge of situations 
  • Open, honest and transparent communications
  • Participate in activities and meetings etc. in a positive and engaged manner
  • Maintain confidentiality in all matters
  • Receive feedback and strive for continuous improvement and understanding

 

Work Location & Schedule:  

  • McClean Lake
  • 14 day in/ 14 day out rotating schedule
  • Normally an 11 hour work day, although some activity outside of normal working hours may be required
  • Able to wear passive, powered, and self-contained respiratory protective equipment, pass the associated fit tests

$91,800-$108,000

 

Fly Day- This position will fly in and fly out on Wednesdays

 

Pick-Up Points: Saskatoon, Prince Albert, La Ronge, Buffalo Narrows and the designated communities in the Athabasca region of Uranium City, Stony Rapids, Fond du Lac, and Wollaston.

 

As a condition of employment the successful candidate must complete Orano’s pre-employment checks including education verification and employment reference checks. 

 

Drug (including marijuana) and alcohol substance testing is a requirement for all Safety Sensitive positions. Applicants who have recently used marijuana recreationally may not pass a substance test as marijuana can remain in the user’s system for as many as 30 days after use.
