Orano TN, a subsidiary of Orano, is seeking an Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI) Technical Specialist to support the ISFSI’s day-to-day activities in Crystal River, FL. The ISFSI Technical Specialist is primarily responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing security and site equipment. This may include managing the work of contractors and implementing project work from conception to installation in conjunction with the ISFSI General (Senior) Manager and Operations and Maintenance Manager for modifications to the ISFSI.   

The ideal candidate must exhibit qualities that will support the ISFSI mission.  These include the ability to handle multiple tasks, to work as a team member, be a self-starter and motivated to get work done on an expedited basis.  Must be able to anticipate error-likely situations with a questioning attitude.   

Duties / Responsibilities: 

  • Interface with the Security Staff to ensure the processes and procedures are effectively implemented. 
  • Support the Operations and Maintenance Manager as assigned to perform, plan and document required ISFSI surveillances, preventive, and corrective maintenance, including coordinating with contracted personnel, for ISFSI and site infrastructure. 
  • Maintain required qualifications needed to perform assigned tasks and procedure and technical reviews.
  • Assist with the implementation of the Corrective Action Program (CAP) to ensure that it is effective by fostering the identification of issues at a low threshold. 
  • Support a Safety Conscious Work Environment (SCWE) and safety culture that is free of Harassment, Intimidation, Retaliation and Discrimination (HIRD). 
  • Support the Radiation Protection Manager as assigned to perform and document required ISFSI radiological and environmental monitoring activities. 
  • Perform all assigned tasks in conformance with established procedures and company policies.  
  • Properly document all data and information collected during the performance of assigned tasks. 
  • Keep site management cognizant of the status of all assigned work and of any problems that arise. 
  • Recommend changes to procedures and equipment as identified during the course of performing assigned work. 
  • Maintain effective communications with other employees to ensure that those with a need to know are kept cognizant of events in an effort to reduce delays, resolve conflicts, and expedite resolution of problems. 
  • Perform such other duties that may be assigned.



Requirements

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity.  Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher-level position. 

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Minimum of 3 years of working experience in a maintenance-related field. 
  • Minimum one year of related technical training (vocational, military, or employer programs). 
  • High degree of manual dexterity and ability. 
  • Must meet 10 CFR 73 access requirements.  


Preferred additional qualifications: 

  • Experience in operations, maintenance, and repair of Electro/Mechanical, HVAC, software products and programs, and Instrument & Controls systems/equipment. 
  • Knowledge of nuclear Protected Area (PA) security systems and dry cask storage systems strongly preferred. 
  • Training in radiation protection, certification by the American Board of Health Physics a plus. 
  • Aptitude for training and familiarity with regulatory compliance with 10 CFR Parts 50 and 72 a plus.
