Location: Warrington or Westlakes (hybrid)

The purpose of the Head of Decommissioning role is to lead Orano Limited’s Decommissioning department within the UK to ensure sustainable growth and successful delivery of all decommissioning projects.

Responsibilities:

Management:

  • Line management of team leaders and principal engineers
  • Identification of resource needs, recruitment planning and undertaking recruitment interviews
  • Identification of the development needs of the department and proposing development plans
  • Management of the efficient deployment of resources of the department by working with the team leaders and Head of Operations Capability to agree allocation of staff on projects


Business and strategy:

  • Develop and maintain a discipline strategy for the decommissioning department which aligns with the wider business strategy and account plans. Implement this effectively.
  • Proactive engagement with external network and industry stakeholders to secure new business and grow order intake, revenue and profit for the department
  • Support the Sales & Marketing department’s business development and bidding activities, including developing relevant technical aspects of bids and value propositions
  • Work closely with non-UK (primarily French) teams to leverage Group’s capability within the UK.


Delivery:

  • Deliver decommissioning technical work on a chargeable basis including some self-delivery and checking or approving work of others.
  • Oversight of technical and project delivery for decommissioning team and escalation point for issues
  • Contribute to relevant processes
  • Collaborate effectively with other teams and departments such as Waste Management & Characterisation, Nuclear Safety, Engineering and the Project Management Office. 

 

 

Requirements

Qualifications and experience:

  • Strong background in decommissioning and dismantling
  • Experience of leading or overseeing challenging decommissioning projects, or similar
  • Demonstrated success in securing new business, specifically including nuclear decommissioning projects
  • Leadership and management experience 
  • Degree qualified in relevant subject (e.g. Nuclear, Decommissioning, Chemical, Process or Mechanical Engineering), preferably with at least 10 years’ experience within the UK nuclear industry 

Skills:

  • Proactive in building client relationships and proposing solutions
  • An excellent network within the UK nuclear sector, including budget holders 
  • Business and commercial acumen 
  • Ability to inspire, motivate and develop staff across a medium-sized department.
  • Demonstrates strategic thinking and adaptability by aligning decisions with long-term organisational goals while remaining flexible to changing priorities and market conditions.
