Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic (Permanent)

(McClean Lake)

As a key player of the Maintenance team, you will work alongside skilled professionals to ensure a safe and efficient operation of the mill. You’ll take charge of essential tasks, from rebuilding pumps to performing routine preventative maintenance. Responsibilities include:  

  • Responsible for all aspects of millwright maintenance in the milling complex and surrounding areas. This may include preventative maintenance work, equipment repairs and participation in developing maintenance programs.
  • Rebuilding pumps of various types and sizes
  • Removal of pumps, fans and agitators for maintenance
  • Bearing replacements, belt/sheave changes and adjustments
  • Oil Changes on equipment
  • Some occasional welding/fabricating 
  • Maintain a safe and organized working environment
  • Embrace and support Operational Excellence efforts and OE Culture
  • Complies with all Orano health, safety and environmental policies, practices and procedures
  • Promote and adhere to Orano Canada’s values: Customer Satisfaction, Continuous Improvement, Respect and People Development, Cohesion and Team Spirit, and Exemplarity, Integrity, Responsibility

 

Skills and Qualifications for the position include:

  • Must have an Interprovincial Journeyperson Industrial Mechanic ticket
  • Machining experience and/or a Journeyperson Machinist is considered an asset 
  • Welding experience and/or a Journeyperson Welder is considered an asset 
  • Good understanding of pumps and other mechanical equipment related to the mill operation
  • Willingness to work with minimum supervision at times
  • Work as part of the maintenance team to ensure the safe and efficient production of the mill
  • Willingness to utilize all skills taught in the millwright trade
  • Willingness to assist other trades in the completion of their duties
  • Priority will be given to residents of the Saskatchewan’s North

 

Work Location & Schedule:  

  • McClean Lake
  • 14 day in/ 14 day out rotating schedule
  • Normally an 11 hour work day, although some activity outside of normal working hours may be required
  • This position requires moderate physical ability

Pick-Up Points: Saskatoon, Prince Albert, La Ronge, Buffalo Narrows and the designated communities in the Athabasca region of Uranium City, Stony Rapids, Fond du Lac, and Wollaston.

 

As a condition of employment the successful candidate must complete Orano’s pre-employment checks including education verification and employment reference checks. 

 

Drug (including marijuana) and alcohol substance testing is a requirement for all Safety Sensitive positions. Applicants who have recently used marijuana recreationally may not pass a substance test as marijuana can remain in the user’s system for as many as 30 days after use.
