Description

The Principal Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (EC&I) design engineer is be responsible for leading a design team or provide EC&I expertise within a multi-discipline team delivering one or more design projects. These designs will cover the full project life cycle from concept design through to manufacture and commissioning. 

When leading a project, the Principal EC&I engineer shall be responsible for the coordination, planning and approval of designs in accordance with the required standards, procedures and requirements. When collaborating with Orano partners, working within a framework team, they shall provide the design engineering for the EC&I discipline. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Providing EC&I technical input to bids.
  • Tender documentation production and development.
  • Development and management of estimates and project schedules.
  • Management of EC&I requirements at all levels.
  • Lead presentations at EC&I design review and other client facing meetings.
  • Provision of technical solutions from customer requirements and initial concepts, and coordinate EC&I activities necessary to provide design solutions.
  • Continuous learning and development in all areas of engineering especially with respect to the latest developments in technologies and techniques.
  • Production of project deliverables in accordance with project requirements, in line with relevant standards and procedures.
  • Adherence to all company and statutory H&S policies, rules, regulations and laws, setting the standards for other EC&I discipline members. 
  • Adherence to the company Quality Management System (QMS), contribution to the development of the QMS, and proactive monitoring of team compliance to the development of the QMS, and proactive monitoring of team compliance to the QMS.

This Position is for the Warrington or Abingdon Office. The successful candidate must, by the start of the employment, have permission to work in the UK, and be willing to undergo a security vetting process. Offers of employment will be subject to relevant security clearance being granted.

Requirements

You will have: 

  • A minimum of 8 years professional experience in a Nuclear site or other highly regulate site. 
  • A BEng(Hons) degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or closely related subject.
  • Chartership or working towards. 
  • An understanding of how the EC&I aspects fit within a complex project environment, combined with an in-depth knowledge of particular areas within the discipline.
  • A good understanding of nuclear health and safety and the construction regulations.
  • Significant experience at all stages of the design lifecycle.
  • Experience with plant and documentation configuration management.
  • The capability to deliver and check design solutions to the required standards, in the required timescales, supported by appropriate documentation.
  • Knowledge of EC&I systems design, including calculations and EMC assessment.
  • Experience of machinery and process plant design. 
  • Experience with obsolescence management. 

The successful candidate must, by the start of the employment, have permission to work in the UK, and be willing to undergo a security vetting process. Offers of employment will be subject to relevant security clearance being granted. Close working relationships with other Orano sites and client sites may be required, which necessitates regular travel to those sites (dependent upon project & client requirements).
