Description

As a Mechanical Engineer at Orano Limited, you will be involved in a variety of specialist tasks. This could include:

  • Delivering and managing technical studies/projects.
  • Designing of mechanical processes, from strategic and conceptual phases to detailed design and construction & commissioning phase support. Typical deliverables that will be issued: technical note, substantiation notes, mechanical flow diagrams and flow-sheets, mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and mechanical layout drawings, hazards and malfunctions management, technical specification documentation review from supply chain.
  • Technical studies related to mechanical handling for both handling operations and heavy mechanical transfer systems, powder mechanical processes (transport, milling, and compaction) in high active environment and gloveboxes, compaction and mechanical dismantling technologies.
  • Technical networking within Orano, including with Orano experts.
  • Close working relationships with other Orano sites and client sites may be required, which necessitates regular travel to those sites (dependent upon project).
Requirements

You will have:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, or other relevant degree. 
  • 6+ Years’ experience as a Mechanical Engineer Experience of engineering design (development, FEED, detailed design, technical specification, documentation review from supply chain) in the nuclear industry or other highly regulated sectors.
  • Experience of mechanical studies delivery (Mechanical handling, powder technologies) considering manufacture, testing, construction commissioning, operation, maintenance recovery and decommissioning aspects.
  • Experience of contractor follow-up in the nuclear industry or other regulated sectors.
  • Experience of delivering projects for Sellafield, AWE, UKAEA, UKNNL or Magnox sites. 
  • Be able to hold a minimum of ‘SC’ UK Security Clearance. 


The successful candidate must, by the start of the employment, have permission to work in the UK, and be willing to undergo a security vetting process. Offers of employment will be subject to relevant security clearance being granted. Travel to other Orano offices and client sites may be necessary. You should be willing to work flexibly to accommodate project and client requirements.
